Description

Replacement mowing disc for Dreame A1, A1 Pro and A2

Dreame has expanded the A series in quick succession—A1, A1 Pro, A2, and most recently A3. When choosing replacement parts, there is only one key distinction: A1, A1 Pro and A2 share the same disc mount, while the A3 AWD does not. This disc fits the first three models and is supplied with pre-assembled stainless steel blades.

Three models, no adapter

Between the A1 and A2, Dreame has worked on navigation and equipment, but left the mowing unit unchanged. If you switched from an A1 to an A2, you can continue to use your existing replacement disc.

The Pro version of the A1 also doesn’t change anything. It differs in the sensors, not in how the disc sits.

That makes stocking easy: One disc type covers half of the A series, and the blades are interchangeable between the devices.

Compatible Dreame models

Dreame A1
Dreame A1 Pro
Dreame A2
A2 in all surface variants
Not compatible with: Dreame A3 AWD 2000 and A3 AWD 3500 PRO. The A3 generation has a newly designed mowing deck—so we offer a dedicated disc for the A3 AWD.

A1, A2, or A3 – which one is in the garden?

“A1 vs A2 vs A3” is one of the most searched questions about Dreame lawn mowing robots. For the disc, it all comes down to one point:

The A series at a glance – and where the disc boundary runs
Model Mowing disc Special feature
Dreame A1 this disc the first generation of the series
Dreame A1 Pro this disc enhanced sensors, same mowing unit
Dreame A2 this disc successor with identical mounting
Dreame A3 AWD other disc all-wheel drive, newly designed mowing unit

So the boundary is between A2 and A3—not between A1 and A2, as is often assumed. The complete model name is printed on the type plate on the underside.

How often do I need to replace the blades on A1 or A2?

A date on the calendar helps little here—what matters is how many operating hours add up. A device that mows a small area every day will wear out faster than one that starts twice a week.

The most reliable indicator is the cut pattern: as soon as the tips of the blades look frayed and the lawn looks dull rather than fresh two days after mowing, the cutting edges are blunt.

The mowing disc lasts significantly longer. You replace it when it runs unevenly after hitting an obstacle or shows cracks.

Do I always need to replace all blades at the same time?

Yes—and this isn’t a precautionary recommendation, it’s physics. A new blade weighs differently than a worn one. If both are mounted on the same mowing disc, an imbalance occurs that becomes clearly noticeable at mowing speed.

The effects do not become apparent immediately, but over the course of the season: the bearing of the mowing motor permanently absorbs the vibration.

That’s why we supply the disc as a complete, matched set—and when replacing the blades later, it’s worth keeping the same rule.

Replacement on the Dreame

  1. Switch off the robot and remove it from the charging station.
  2. Put on gloves and place the device on its side.
  3. Remove clippings around the mowing deck so the new disc sits flat.
  4. Loosen the old disc, attach the new one, and tighten the screws evenly.
  5. Tap each blade once—it must be able to rotate freely around its screw.

The final step determines the service life. A blade that is stuck in place cannot move out of the way when it hits a stone and transfers the impact directly to the mowing deck.

6, 7 or 9 blades on the Dreame

All three configurations fit on the same mount. The number of blades does not change the motor power, but how finely the cut is made—and how long each cutting edge lasts.

6 blades – as from the factory, with hub protection

The configuration that matches the original. The robot drives as usual, and the battery life remains unchanged—ideal if you simply want to replace the worn mowing disc.

This variant is the only one that has protection over the hub; it is missing with 7 and 9 blades. With the Dreame, this is especially worthwhile in gardens with deciduous trees: damp leaves and grass clippings otherwise settle exactly where the blades engage, and slow them down.

Anyone who runs the robot on a schedule and rarely looks under the chassis will be the most carefree with this option.

Mowing disc with 6 blades for Dreame A1
6 blades – with closed hub
Mowing disc with 7 blades for Dreame A1 Pro
7 blades – a more even cut

7 blades – for neatly kept lawns

One extra cutting edge provides additional cuts per revolution. On well-maintained areas with short mowing intervals, the result is therefore more uniform.

A good compromise for everyone who values a clean look without significantly increasing wear.

No hub protection: In gardens without leaves and with dry grass, this doesn’t matter.

Additional cost, see selection above

9 blades – for daily operation

Nine cutting blades produce the finest cut pattern—provided the robot runs often and only trims a little. Then even individual blades of grass that remain standing will disappear.

With longer breaks between mowing sessions, the advantage flips: the same amount of work is spread across more edges, which therefore become dull earlier.

Also without hub protection—when mowing daily on short grass, little collects under the device.

9 blades – densest blade arrangement

Signs that it’s time to replace

The grass tips look torn, not cut
The lawn turns slightly brownish after mowing
During operation, the Dreame sounds rougher than before
A blade is firmly seated or visibly bent

Buy blades individually

Because with Dreame the entire set is always replaced, it’s worth keeping a supply at home. The 60-blade replacement set including screws covers multiple replacements—so the next set is ready before the cutting performance declines.

Frequently asked questions

Does the cutting disc really fit the A1, A1 Pro, and A2?

Yes. Dreame uses the same disc mount for all three models, so every version of this disc fits without adapters or modifications.

Does the mowing disc from the A1 also fit the Dreame A3 AWD?

No. The A3 series has a larger mowing deck with a different mount. For A3 AWD 2000 and A3 AWD 3500 PRO, you need the A3 disc.

What changes between 6, 7, and 9 blades?

Not the cutting force—the motor remains equally powerful. What changes is the number of cuts per revolution, and thus the fineness of the cut pattern. In tall, damp grass, the difference is hardly noticeable.

How often do I need to replace the cutting disc on the Dreame A1?

There is no fixed interval. With average use, one set lasts a season to a season and a half. Frayed blade tips are the most reliable indicator.

Do I need tools for the replacement?

No. Turn off the robot, flip it over, remove the grass felt, take off the old disc, and attach the new one. About ten minutes—gloves recommended.

Are the blades already mounted when delivered?

Yes. The disc comes pre-assembled with attached blades. For mounting on the robot, use the existing screw from your old disc.

Can I switch from 6 to 9 blades without any modifications?

Yes. All variants have identical mounting and outer dimensions. You can switch at any time without changing anything on the robot.

Original Dreame or aftermarket—will there be vibrations?

What matters is manufacturing precision, not the brand name. A properly balanced aftermarket disc runs more smoothly than an original disc with a missing blade. It’s important that all blades have the same weight and that they swing freely.

  6. Fasten each blade with a suitable screw.
  7. Tighten the screws securely without over-tightening them.
  8. Check each blade for a secure fit and free movement.

7. Check after installation

  • Are all screws fully inserted and securely fastened?
  • Is the cutting disc straight and firmly seated?
  • Can the blades move freely, if intended?
  • Have no tools or foreign objects been left in the area of the cutting disc?
  • Does the cutting disc run freely and without grinding?

8. Operation and Maintenance

  • Check the blades, screws, and cutting disc regularly for wear.
  • Replace damaged or heavily worn parts immediately.
  • Clean the cutting disc regularly of grass clippings and dirt.
  • Do not use the lawn mower robot if unusual noises, vibrations, or running problems occur.
  • Use only compatible replacement parts and suitable mounting materials.

Note on Blade Replacement

Always replace blades in good time. Dull or damaged blades can worsen the cutting pattern,
place a greater load on the lawn mower robot, and impair safety.
