Ecovacs GOAT: two generations, two mowing units
Ecovacs has been established in the floor-cleaning robot market for years and brought the GOAT series to the garden in 2023. The first approach did without an RTK antenna: the O and G1 models navigate using camera-based guidance and map the garden visually. The newer A series also relies on RTK and covers larger areas.
This generation boundary is crucial when purchasing replacement parts and is regularly overlooked because the model names are similarly structured.

Common problems with GOAT robots
Mix-up of O and A models
GOAT O500 and GOAT A1600 blades look like they belong to the same family, but they are not. The letter before the number decides. Second identifying feature: If you have an RTK antenna in your garden, you have an A model.
Old spare parts stock after model change
If you switch from an O model to the A series, you can no longer use existing mowing discs. If you have two devices in the household, it’s worth labeling the discs—they look similar enough to be confused.
Imbalance caused by a mowing disc that isn’t seated properly
A mowing disc that doesn’t lock in correctly transfers vibration to the motor bearing. After installation, always rotate it by hand and check for smooth, free running.
