GARDENA SILENO: Boundary wire instead of satellite
GARDENA is part of the Husqvarna Group and brings decades of experience from the garden equipment industry. The SILENO series still relies on boundary wire instead of satellite navigation—an approach that is considered old-fashioned, but works very reliably in practice and does not require an unobstructed view of the sky. This is a real advantage, especially in gardens with tall trees.

Typical problems with SILENO robots
Uneven blade wear
A wire-guided robot travels along the boundary in the same line every time—round after round, season after season. If there is an edging stone or a root that has been exposed by flushing, the same blade hits it during every pass. If you find two or three blades that are noticeably duller, you should move the wire path at that point inward by about two handspans.
The edge strip on the boundary wire
Along the boundary, a narrow strip remains uncut because the robot turns away before the blades reach the wire. This is due to the design and does not improve even with new blades—only manual trimming helps here.
Fine soil dust between the disc and the mount
Material collects in the edge area, settling between the pickup and the disc and causing imbalance. When changing, clean the pickup thoroughly.
