Description

Replacement mowing disc for i208 AWD, i215 LiDAR and i220 LiDAR

The large i-models from Segway use LiDAR sensor technology and cover areas where the robot is on the go every day. Their mowing unit is designed to be larger than that of the i105E series—an disc from the small series does not fit here. This disc is made for i208 AWD, i215 LiDAR and i220 LiDAR and comes with pre-assembled stainless steel blades.

For the large i-models with LiDAR

Why the large i-models demand more

An i220 LiDAR is designed for around 2,000 m², an i215 for about 1,500. No robot can handle such areas in a single pass—it sets off multiple times a day and covers distances over the week that are far beyond what a device in a townhouse garden would do.

For the cutting performance, it’s exactly this running time that matters. Wear isn’t determined by the size of the garden, but by the number of meters each blade pulls through the grass.

On top of that, there’s LiDAR navigation: these models drive closer to flowerbeds, edges, and obstacles than older generations. This produces a clean mowing pattern right up to the border—and more frequent contact between the blades and lawn edge stones.

Questions about the Large i-Series

Segway has expanded the i-series across multiple generations. These points most often cause uncertainty:

i208, i215 or i220 – is the mowing disc identical?

Yes. The numbers indicate the recommended lawn area, not the mowing unit: i215 for about 1,500 m², i220 for roughly 2,000. Cutting disc, blades and mowing disc are the same for all three.

Even the Pro versions don’t change that—they add extra sensors and software features, but they mow with the same disc.

The difference is only noticeable in wear: someone running an i220 at full area will replace the blades earlier than someone using an i208 at half capacity.

I have an i105E – does this disc fit?

No. This is the most common mix-up within the i series: the smaller models i105E, i108E and i205 AWD have their own, smaller-sized mowing unit.

The letter doesn’t help here—only the number. Everything from i208 belongs to this disc, everything below to the version for the small i series.

You can find the full model name on the type label on the underside of the robot or in the app under device information.

Does the disc wear out faster with edge-near LiDAR navigation?

The disc itself hardly at all—it’s not a wear part. The blades, on the other hand, are: If you mow right up to lawn edge stones, garden bed borders, or paving joints, you inevitably get more material contact than a robot that keeps a safety distance.

That’s not a defect, but the price of a clean edge look. Practically, it just means: take a quick look at the cutting edges once more per month.

Visible notches on a single blade are a clear sign that it hit a stone. Then it’s worth replacing the entire set— a damaged blade weighs differently than the others.

Replacement in just a few minutes

  1. Switch the device off using the button—don’t just pause it in the app.
  2. Put on gloves and lay the robot on its side.
  3. Loosen any collected clippings around the mowing deck.
  4. Unscrew the old mowing disc, attach the new one, and tighten the screws crosswise.
  5. Finally, briefly tap each blade— it must be able to rotate freely around its screw.

With the larger i models, it’s worth clearing out the wheel arches right away. If you’re working under the device anyway, this saves you a second maintenance stop.

7 or 9 blades

For the larger i-models, we offer two configurations. Both fit the same mount—the difference is how often a blade of grass is hit along the same path.

7 blades – for regular operation

The balanced choice for areas that the robot processes in multiple passes per week. Seven cutting edges provide a clean cutting pattern without spreading the work across too many edges.

On large properties with different zones—short ornamental lawn in the front, more robust growth in the back—this is the option that works everywhere.

7 blades – the all-rounder
Mowing disc with 9 blades for Navimow i215 LiDAR
9 blades – for areas kept short

9 blades – for daily operation

If you let your i215 or i220 run every day and keep the lawn consistently short, then nine cutting edges deliver the densest cutting pattern. Individual blades that remain standing—sometimes left behind on longer passes—disappear in the process.

During longer mowing pauses, the advantage is reversed: nine narrow blades share the same workload and therefore dull earlier. For areas with more vigorous growth, the 7-blade setup remains the more durable choice.

Choose 9-blade variant

Additional charge, see selection above

When it’s time for a new set

Leave blades standing at the edge, not in the main area
The cut looks torn instead of cleanly separated
A blade shows notches—usually after contact with stones
The robot takes longer for the same zone than before

Buy blades individually

With two passes a day, operating hours add up quickly—and the entire set is always replaced, never individual blades. The 60-blade replacement set with screws covers multiple replacements and is ready whenever the lawn needs it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no 6-blade disc for the i208 AWD?

Because the mowing disc is larger than on the smaller i-series. Six blades would be spaced so far apart on this diameter that gaps would remain between the cuts. Seven is the sensible minimum here.

Does the disc fit the i208 AWD, i215 LiDAR, and i220 LiDAR?

Yes, all three models use the same disc mount.

Can I use the disc from the i205 AWD on the i208 AWD?

No. Despite the similar model number, the i205 AWD has the smaller mowing deck of the i1xx series. The discs are not interchangeable.

7 or 9 blades – which should I choose?

For tough, everyday lawn, the 7-blade version is sufficient. For well-kept ornamental grass with a short cutting height and dense turf, the 9-blade version is worth it.

Do I need to set up the Navimow again after changing the disc?

No. The change is purely mechanical. Just make sure not to move the RTK antenna in the garden.

Some blades of grass are still standing for me— is the disc to blame?

Very likely. With wide mowing decks, this is the typical early sign of blades losing performance, even before the tips of the blades start to fray.

Are the blades pre-assembled?

Yes, the disc comes ready to install with attached blades.

  3. Carefully remove the existing cutting disc from the blade mount.
  4. Clean the blade mount of grass clippings, dirt, and deposits.
  5. Check the blade mount for damage or unusual wear.

Warning

Do not use the new cutting disc if the blade mount, mounting points,
threads, or screws are damaged. In this case, the lawn mower may only be used again after
proper inspection.

5. Installing the GRASBOT cutting disc

  1. Fit the GRASBOT cutting disc onto the blade mount.
  2. Make sure the cutting disc sits flat and is correctly centered.
  3. Insert the appropriate fastening screws.
  4. Tighten the screws evenly and firmly.
  5. Do not overtighten the screws to avoid damage to threads or components.

  4. Install the new GRASBOT replacement blades on the designated mounting points.
  5. Make sure the blades remain free to move, if this is intended by the design.
  6. Fasten each blade with a suitable screw.
  7. Tighten the screws securely without over-tightening them.
  8. Check each blade for a secure fit and free movement.

7. Check after installation

  • Are all screws fully inserted and securely fastened?
  • Is the cutting disc straight and firmly seated?
  • Can the blades move freely, if intended?
  • Have no tools or foreign objects been left in the area of the cutting disc?
  • Does the cutting disc run freely and without grinding?

8. Operation and Maintenance

  • Check the blades, screws, and cutting disc regularly for wear.
  • Replace damaged or heavily worn parts immediately.
  • Clean the cutting disc regularly of grass clippings and dirt.
  • Do not use the lawn mower robot if unusual noises, vibrations, or running problems occur.
  • Use only compatible replacement parts and suitable mounting materials.

Note on Blade Replacement

Always replace blades in good time. Dull or damaged blades can worsen the cutting pattern,
place a greater load on the lawn mower robot, and impair safety.
