Description

Replacement mowing disc for Husqvarna Automower

The Automower is one of the most widely used mowing robots in Germany—so replacement parts are in high demand to keep a well-maintained unit running. Our mowing disc comes with six, seven, or nine blades and replaces the worn factory version. Suitable for Automower 305, 310, 315X, 405X, 415X, 430X, 435X AWD and 535 AWD, with pre-assembled stainless steel blades.

Sharp cutting edges determine the cut pattern

An Automower trims only a few millimeters with each run. This works as long as the cutting edges are sharp—dull blades tear the grass blade instead of cutting it cleanly.

You won’t notice it on the day of mowing, but two days later: the split tips dry out and leave a dull film over the area.

The swap is not a modification. The disc is mounted in the same fitting as the factory version—no drilling, no adjustment to the device.

Questions about the Automower mowing disc

With Husqvarna, most questions revolve around the replacement interval and how to distinguish between the many model series.

How often do the blades need to be replaced?

“Automower Messer wechseln wie oft” is one of the most frequently asked questions about the brand—however, there is no universally applicable number. What matters is the operating time: a device that covers a large area every day reaches the point sooner than one used in a small garden.

The more cutting edges share the workload, the less each individual one wears down. That’s why a disc with six to nine blades lasts longer than a setup with only a few cutting edges.

Still, the most reliable indicator remains the lawn: frayed blade tips and a dull sound two days after mowing show that it’s time to sharpen—so a fresh set is due.

Does driving behavior change with a larger disc?

Nothing changes in the driving behavior itself. The Automower continues to follow its usual navigation, and the cutting height adjustment works as before.

What changes is the cutting pattern: more cutting blades mean more cuts per revolution, and the result looks more even. This is most noticeable on dense lawns.

The denser the blade setup, the more work the drive has to do. With the larger models from 415X, this is hardly measurable; if you run a 305 near the upper area limit, you’ll more likely stick with six cutting blades.

Automower 310 or 315X – do they need different mowing discs?

No. Within the models listed, the mounting is identical, regardless of area performance and equipment. Even the AWD versions with all-wheel drive use the same disc.

The model number mainly indicates how much lawn area Husqvarna has designed the device for, and which comfort features are included.

For households with two Automower units, that means: one replacement disc type is enough, and the blades are interchangeable between the units.

Swap in just a few minutes

  1. Switch off the Automower and remove it from the charging station.
  2. Put on gloves and place the device on its side.
  3. Unscrew the old factory version and clean the mowing area.
  4. Attach the new disc and tighten it evenly.
  5. Check each blade by tapping it—it must rotate freely around its screw.

The old blade screws can sometimes be difficult to loosen after longer operation. A short spray of penetrating oil and a few minutes of waiting time can prevent worn screw heads.

6, 7 or 9 blades on the Automower

All three versions fit the same mounting. The choice determines how fine the result turns out and how much work the drive has to do.

6 blades – the balanced entry point

The version with the best ratio of cutting pattern and drive load. For the smaller models such as the 305 or 310, this is the obvious choice.

Only this version has a closed center – with 7 and 9 blades it is omitted. This matters with the Automower because the devices often run every day for years and inevitably also come across damp grass: Without a cover, the clippings collect season after season around the blade mounting.

If you want to keep maintenance effort to a minimum, this is the right option.

6 blades – with closed center
Mowing disc with 7 blades for Husqvarna Automower
7 blades – more even cutting pattern

7 blades – for visibly well-kept lawn

One cutting edge more, and individual blades left standing between the tracks disappear reliably. For the mid-range models with sufficient drive reserve, this is the sensible middle ground.

Especially on dense, well-nourished grass, the difference is noticeable.

Without cover over the middle: in dry weather there’s no disadvantage; for frequent mowing in morning dew, the 6-blade version is more practical.

9 blades – for the larger models

The densest blade arrangement shows its strength on devices with powerful drive—such as the X models and the AWD variants, which are designed for larger areas anyway.

On neatly trimmed lawns with daily operation, this results in the finest finish that this device can achieve. During longer mowing breaks and with taller grass, six or seven blades are more robust.

Also without a closed center.

Choose 9-blade variant

Signs of dull cutting

Some blades of grass remain standing between the mowing lines
The cutting edge is torn rather than smooth
After mowing, the lawn gets a dull veil
A blade can no longer be turned freely

Buy blades individually

With the Automower, the entire set is always replaced—adding a single fresh blade among worn ones creates imbalance. The 60-blade replacement set including screws covers many such replacements and is ready whenever the lawn needs it.

Frequently asked questions

Which Automower models does this cutting disc fit?

For Automower 305, 310, 310E Nera, 315, 315X, 405X, 410XE Nera, 415X, 430X, 435X AWD and 535 AWD. Husqvarna uses the same disc mount for these series.

Does the mowing disc also fit the Automower 550?

No. The 550 and the larger professional models have a different cutting deck. If in doubt, check the serial number on the device.

I have an old Automower 315 – does the current disc still fit?

Yes. That’s the advantage with Husqvarna: the mount has remained unchanged over many model years, so current mowing discs also fit older devices in these series.

Is it worth ordering two mowing discs at once?

With Husqvarna, more so than with other manufacturers. Because the mount remains the same across series, the second mowing disc will still fit even if you switch to a newer model in a few years.

What’s the difference between 6, 7 and 9 blades on the Automower?

Motor power does not change. More blades mean more cuts per revolution. Since Automower works with very short blades and high rotational speed, the difference in the cutting pattern is more subtle than with robots that use longer blades.

Do I need to enter the PIN again after changing it?

The disc change itself does not affect the settings. If you completely disconnect the device from power in the meantime, the Automower will require the PIN entry upon restart, depending on the model.

Are screws and blades included?

The blades are pre-assembled. To attach them to the robot, you use the existing screw from your old mowing disc.

  8. Check each blade for a secure fit and free movement.

7. Check after installation

  • Are all screws fully inserted and securely fastened?
  • Is the cutting disc straight and firmly seated?
  • Can the blades move freely, if intended?
  • Have no tools or foreign objects been left in the area of the cutting disc?
  • Does the cutting disc run freely and without grinding?

8. Operation and Maintenance

  • Check the blades, screws, and cutting disc regularly for wear.
  • Replace damaged or heavily worn parts immediately.
  • Clean the cutting disc regularly of grass clippings and dirt.
  • Do not use the lawn mower robot if unusual noises, vibrations, or running problems occur.
  • Use only compatible replacement parts and suitable mounting materials.

Note on Blade Replacement

Always replace blades in good time. Dull or damaged blades can worsen the cutting pattern,
place a greater load on the lawn mower robot, and impair safety.
