Description

Replacement mowing disc for SILENO minimo 250, 400 and 500

The minimo is Gardenas compact model for small, often intricate properties – front gardens, townhouse areas, and inner courtyards. Its mowing deck is designed smaller than that of the SILENO life series, which is why the discs do not fit with each other. This disc is made for minimo 250, 400 and 500 and comes with pre-assembled stainless steel blades.

Compact mowing deck, own disc

Small device, demanding areas

Properties where a minimo works are rarely rectangular. Flower beds, paths, terrace edges, and narrow passages shape the landscape—the robot therefore performs many turning maneuvers per square meter.

For the cutting blades, every turn briefly creates resistance against standing grass. That’s exactly why blades in small gardens often wear out faster than the area specification would suggest.

The disc itself handles it without any problem. It only becomes an issue if, after an impact, it starts to wobble or the blade plate mounts are worn out.

Not suitable for: SILENO life and SILENO+. The larger model lines use a different mowing disc—so we offer a separate disc for SILENO life and SILENO+.

Frequently asked questions about the minimo

Around the minimo, it usually comes down to two things: the distinction from the larger SILENO models and how to handle narrow gardens.

Will a mowing disc from the SILENO life fit the minimo?

No. Gardena developed the minimo as a standalone series and adapted the mowing deck to the more compact design. The mounts are different.

What’s confusing is that the numbers don’t provide any guidance: a minimo 500 sounds like a smaller device than a life 750, but it belongs to a completely different series.

Only the word minimo in the model name is reliable. If it’s missing, you need the disc for the life series.

minimo 250, 400 or 500 – the same disc?

Yes, all three use the same mount and the same blades. The number simply indicates the lawn area that Gardena has approved the respective model for.

So if you upgrade within the series, you can continue to use existing replacement parts.

With wear, the difference becomes noticeable: a minimo 500 used over the full area delivers significantly more operating hours than a 250 in the front garden.

How much do most blades cost in narrow gardens?

It’s not the grass, but the edges. Lawn edging stones, paving slabs, and garden border edging are the most common reason for individual damaged cutting blades—especially because the minimo mows right up to them.

Since the blades are mounted so they can rotate freely, they fold away when they make contact and thus protect the mowing deck. However, the affected blade edge keeps a notch afterward.

That’s why it’s worth taking a close look at the edges themselves: stones that protrude a few millimeters above the lawn surface cost more replacement blades over a season than anything else.

Blade replacement on the minimo

  1. Switch the device off and remove it from the charging station.
  2. Put on gloves and turn the robot over.
  3. Remove grass clippings from the mowing area—on the compact housing, they often sit very close to the mounting area.
  4. Loosen the old mowing disc, attach the new one, and tighten the screws evenly.
  5. Tap the blades individually: each one must be able to rotate freely around its screw.

If you’re working under the device anyway, you can use this opportunity to check the cutting height. In small gardens, a setting that’s too low is the second most common reason for contact with the edges.

6, 7 or 9 blades at minimum

In small gardens, the robot covers the same area particularly often. This shifts the balance: not the service life of each cutting edge is the focus, but the result over short intervals.

6 blades – as from the factory, with center protection

The direct replacement for the original cutting disc. Nothing changes in the robot’s behavior—only the blades are sharp again.

This version is the only one that has protection over the center of the mowing disc; with 7 and 9 blades, it is omitted. With the minimo, this is especially noticeable: the flat housing leaves little space between the ground and the mowing unit, so clippings are pushed inward almost like on purpose. The protection prevents them from settling on the blade mounting there.

Anyone who wants to run their device without regular checks will make the easiest-care choice with this.

6 blades – with protected center
Mowing disc with 7 blades for SILENO minimo
7 blades – for well-kept front gardens

7 blades – finer detail in your field of view

Front gardens and lawn terraces are viewed up close every day. Seven cutting blades capture every blade of grass more often and deliver a more even result there.

Because the minimo only removes a few millimeters at short intervals anyway, the additional wear stays within tight limits.

Without center protection: no problem in dry conditions—if there’s a lot of moisture or leaves, the 6-blade version requires less maintenance.

9 blades – for grass kept short

The densest blade setup is a good fit for gardens where the minimo runs practically every day and the lawn stays consistently short. The cutting pattern then looks particularly uniform.

Where there are many stone edges in play, six or seven stronger blades last longer—narrow blades make poorer contact with hard surfaces.

Also without protection over the center.

Choose 9-blade variant

Additional charge see selection above

When it’s time to replace

A narrow strip remains along the edges of the flower beds
Individual blades show notches from paving slabs
The cutting surface looks torn rather than smooth
The minimo runs more unsteadily after a collision

Buy blades individually as replacements

In gardens with lots of edges, it usually affects individual cutting edges—yet the entire set is still replaced. If you have the 60 cm replacement blades set with screws in stock, you can take care of it right away instead of driving for a week with a half-decent cutting result.

proper inspection.

5. Installing the GRASBOT cutting disc

  1. Fit the GRASBOT cutting disc onto the blade mount.
  2. Make sure the cutting disc sits flat and is correctly centered.
  3. Insert the appropriate fastening screws.
  4. Tighten the screws evenly and firmly.
  5. Do not overtighten the screws to avoid damage to threads or components.

  4. Install the new GRASBOT replacement blades on the designated mounting points.
  5. Make sure the blades remain free to move, if this is intended by the design.
  6. Fasten each blade with a suitable screw.
  7. Tighten the screws securely without over-tightening them.
  8. Check each blade for a secure fit and free movement.

7. Check after installation

  • Are all screws fully inserted and securely fastened?
  • Is the cutting disc straight and firmly seated?
  • Can the blades move freely, if intended?
  • Have no tools or foreign objects been left in the area of the cutting disc?
  • Does the cutting disc run freely and without grinding?

8. Operation and Maintenance

  • Check the blades, screws, and cutting disc regularly for wear.
  • Replace damaged or heavily worn parts immediately.
  • Clean the cutting disc regularly of grass clippings and dirt.
  • Do not use the lawn mower robot if unusual noises, vibrations, or running problems occur.
  • Use only compatible replacement parts and suitable mounting materials.

Note on Blade Replacement

Always replace blades in good time. Dull or damaged blades can worsen the cutting pattern,
place a greater load on the lawn mower robot, and impair safety.
