Description

Replacement mowing disc for LUBA MINI AWD and LUBA MINI 2 AWD

The MINI handles the same slopes as the larger LUBA, just on a smaller area—and it often mows more frequently. If you mow 400 to 600 m² three times a week, you quickly reach 300 to 400 motor minutes per week. This disc is a direct replacement for LUBA MINI AWD 800, 1500, LiDAR and LUBA MINI 2 AWD: balanced, with pre-assembled stainless steel blades, and can be installed without an adapter.

Smaller robot, higher cadence

The MINI is designed for 800 to 1,500 m², but it is rarely used that way. In practice, it mows smaller gardens much more often—many users run three passes per week because the robot is already there and works quietly.

For the blades, it’s not the garden size that matters, but the operating time. A MINI for 450 m² with three passes weekly collects more engine hours over a season than some larger mowers that tackle a big area just once per week.

Mammotion lists three months as a guideline for blade replacement in the manual. That’s realistic—at high cadence, sooner; on flat ground and with dry grass, sometimes later.

Frequently asked questions from the LUBA community

Three points come up again and again in forums and groups. Click to reveal answers:

Does the disc also fit the LiDAR version?

Yes. LiDAR affects navigation, not the mowing system—the sensor is mounted on top of the housing, while the disc is at the bottom. LUBA MINI AWD LiDAR and LUBA MINI 2 AWD LiDAR use the same mounting as the models without LiDAR.

The only relevant difference is wear: LiDAR devices mow closer to edges and flower beds, which means the blades more often come into contact with lawn edge stones. If you mow near the edges, it’s worth checking the cutting performance one more time.

Are the blades firmly bolted in place or movable?

Movable. Each blade sits loosely on its screw and rotates freely around its own axis—just like the original disc.

This isn’t a minor detail, but a safety principle: if the blade hits a stone, a root, or a forgotten garden hose, it folds away instead of getting stuck. Firmly bolted blades would transfer the force directly to the mowing disc and the mowing motor.

After installation, check once by hand: each blade must be able to move with your finger. If one is stuck, the screw is tightened too much—loosen it until it runs freely again.

LUBA MINI AWD 800 or 1500 – do you need different discs?

No. The number refers to the area capacity in square meters, not the mowing deck. 800 and 1500 use the same mounting, the same blades, and the same mowing disc – including the LiDAR version and the MINI 2 AWD.

One spare part covers the entire MINI series. The only difference is wear: if you run the 1500 version over full area, you’ll replace parts more often than someone with 400 m².

LUBA MINI or a larger LUBA?

“luba mini vs luba 2” is one of the most common search queries about Mammotion. If you’re still deciding whether to buy or want to check which device is in the shed:

MINI and LUBA 2 AWD in direct comparison
LUBA MINI AWD LUBA 2 AWD
Area 800 – 1,500 m² 1,000 – 5,000 m²
Drive All-wheel drive All-wheel drive
Incline up to 38° up to 38°
Size compact, more maneuverable in tight spaces larger, more ground clearance
Mowing disc this disc other disc
Typical use maze-like garden, frequent passages large area, longer drives

Both series drive with all-wheel drive and handle the same inclines—the difference lies in the mowing area and build size. The mowing discs are not interchangeable with each other.

Swapping on the MINI

  1. Switch off the MINI; don’t just put it on pause.
  2. Put on gloves and turn the device onto its side.
  3. Loosen the accumulated grass felt— with all-wheel drive, more tends to collect under the disc than with two-wheel mowers.
  4. Remove the old disc, fit the new one, and tighten the screws evenly.
  5. Turn the disc by hand and briefly tap each blade— it must be able to rotate freely around its screw.

If a blade jams, its screw is tightened too much. This is the most common installation mistake and exactly the cause of the uneven running reported in forums.

6, 7, or 9 blades on the MINI

With the MINI, the mowing schedule matters. If you mow three times a week, you’re only ever cutting off short tips anyway—then a denser blade setup provides more benefit than occasional passes through tall grass.

6 blades – factory setup with hub cover

The direct replacement for the original cutting disc. Same running behavior, same battery runtime, no adjustment needed—the right choice if you simply want to replace the worn disc.

Only here is a protective disc seated in the middle on the disc; with 7 and 9 blades it is omitted. Its benefit is especially noticeable with the MINI: the device turns constantly on a small area, and with every change of direction, cuttings end up under the chassis. Without a cover, they move toward the blade mounting area and settle there—with it, they slide further outward.

If you mow three times a week, you inevitably also hit days with dew or residual moisture. That’s exactly when it’s determined whether you need to turn the robot around in between and clear the mowing area.

Mowing disc with 6 blades for LUBA MINI
6 blades – as supplied
Mowing disc with 7 blades for LUBA MINI
7 blades – for frequent passes

7 blades – with three passes per week

Exactly the configuration for the typical MINI usage pattern: mow frequently, with little material per run. More cuts per revolution create a more even result without the blades noticeably dulling faster.

In intricate gardens with lots of turning maneuvers, the difference is most clearly noticeable.

What’s omitted here: the central protective cutting disc of the 6-blade version. On flat, dry areas, it doesn’t matter. But if you run the MINI early in the morning while there’s dew, you’re better off choosing the 6-blade variant.

Choose 7-blade variant

Additional cost, see selection above

9 blades – finely cut ornamental lawn

The densest option is worth it if the lawn stays short and the MINI drives almost every day. Individual blades that remain standing disappear, and the cut pattern looks more closed.

For overgrowth or tall grass, it’s the wrong choice—nine narrow cutting edges dull faster than they provide any benefit.

Choose 9-blade variant

Additional charge, see selection above

9 blades – densest cutting pattern

How you can tell when blades are worn

Blade tips are crushed instead of cleanly cut
The lawn turns dull two days after mowing
One blade no longer spins freely—usually bent
The cutting edges show visible notches

Buy blades individually

With three passes per week, Mammotion estimates around three months as a guideline for blade replacement—the mowing disc itself lasts significantly longer. With the 60 cm replacement blades set including screws, you’ll have supplies ready for several seasons instead of waiting for a delivery at the next change.

Frequently asked questions

Does the disc fit LUBA MINI AWD and MINI 2 AWD?

Yes. Mammotion has not changed the mounting for the mowing disc between the MINI generations. It fits 800, 1500, the LiDAR variant and the MINI 2 AWD.

Can I use the mowing disc from the larger LUBA on the MINI?

No. LUBA 1 AWD and LUBA 2 AWD have a wider cutting deck with a different mounting.

Why do the blades wear out faster on the MINI?

Because intricate gardens require many turning maneuvers. With every turn, the mowing disc shifts sideways through the grass and therefore hits edges and borders more often.

Can I do something so the blades last longer?

Yes. Install border edging one to two centimeters below the grass turf height and do not place turning points in the map directly next to hard edges.

What is the difference between 6, 7 and 9 blades?

The cutting force remains the same, the motor does not change. More blades mean more cuts per revolution and a finer cutting pattern.

The MINI vibrates after the change—what’s the reason?

Most often, there is still grass felt between the mounting and the mowing disc. Remove, clean, and reattach. If the vibration continues, check that all blades can swing freely.

Are screws included?

The blades are already mounted. For attaching them to the robot, use the existing screw from your old mowing disc.
