Description

Replacement mowing disc for the LiDAX Ultra series

The LiDAX Ultra models navigate using a laser scanner and therefore drive closer to obstacles than camera-based robots. For the mowing disc, this means: more edge contact, but also fewer idle trips. This disc fits LiDAX Ultra 800, 1000, 1200 and 1600 and comes with pre-assembled stainless steel blades.

For all four area variants of the series

Four models, one mowing deck

Between the LiDAX Ultra 800 and 1600, the intended lawn area differs—not the mowing deck. When choosing between the variants, you decide based on property size—when it comes to the spare part, you end up with this disc in every case.

That also explains why search queries like “800 vs 1000 vs 1200” are so common: the models look the same and share the technology; they are simply approved for gardens of different sizes.

Practically speaking, this means: a spare part kept in the cupboard covers the entire range, even if later a larger model is added.

Not compatible with: the MOVA base models and the VIAX series. Both have their own mowing units: mowing disc for MOVA 600 & 1000 · mowing disc for VIAX 250, 300 & 500. For AWD versions and other area variants, we’re happy to check compatibility based on the model name.

Questions about the LiDAX series

When it comes to the LiDAX models, three points keep coming up—two of them relate to the naming:

LiDAX Ultra 1000 or 1200 – does it need different discs?

No. Both variants use the same mowing unit; the number only refers to the approved lawn area.

So if you switch from 1000 to 1200 or run both devices in parallel, you only need one disc type. The blades are also interchangeable with each other.

The difference is noticeable only in wear: the larger model travels longer distances per week and needs a new set of blades earlier.

Is the series called LiDAX or LiDAR?

LiDAX is the model name, LiDAR is the underlying technology—a laser scanner that captures the environment in three dimensions. Because both terms sound almost the same, they are regularly mixed up.

For choosing the parts, it doesn’t matter: What’s important is that the type label says “LiDAX Ultra”. If it only shows a number without any additional wording, it’s a base model with a different cutting disc.

If you’re unsure, you can also find the full designation in the app under device information.

Does the blade set wear out faster due to laser navigation?

Indirectly, yes. LiDAX models travel closer to garden bed edges, paving slabs, and lawn edge stones than robots that keep a safety distance. This results in a cleaner edge appearance—and more opportunities for blade contact with hard material.

A trade-off: these devices run more efficiently and cover fewer wasted kilometers than robots with random navigation.

Overall, it is recommended to briefly inspect the cutting edges once a month. Nicks on a single blade are a clear indication of contact with stones.

How to replace it

  1. Switch the device off and remove it from the charging station.
  2. Put on gloves and carefully lay the robot on its side.
  3. Loosen the grass felt around the mowing deck—especially in the corners of the mount.
  4. Unscrew the old disc, attach the new one, and tighten evenly.
  5. Briefly tap each blade: it must be able to rotate freely around its screw.

When turning the device over, it’s worth taking a look at the laser scanner on the top. It should be free of grass splatter—if it’s dirty, it provides inaccurate data and the robot drives less smoothly.

6, 7 or 9 blades for the LiDAX

Because LiDAX models drive along planned paths instead of randomly, every square meter can be calculated and is driven over often. The number of blades determines how finely the result turns out.

6 blades – factory configuration with cover

The version that matches the original. The robot retains its driving and cutting behavior; battery life remains the same.

Only this variant has a cover over the center of the mowing disc – it is not present with 7 and 9 blades. With the LiDAX, this becomes noticeable because the device spends a lot of time in the same zone due to its planned path guidance: Whatever clippings accumulate there end up under the chassis as well. The cover keeps the blade mount free from this.

For operation without regular visual checks, this is the most relaxed choice.

6 blades – with cover over the center
Mowing disc with 7 blades for MOVA LiDAX Ultra
7 blades – a more even mowing pattern

7 blades – for short mowing intervals

One more cutting edge increases the number of cuts per revolution. For robots that mow the same area every two days, this adds up to a visibly calmer mowing pattern.

The additional wear remains manageable – the right balance for well-kept ornamental lawns.

Without center cover: no disadvantage in dry weather; for frequent mowing in the morning dew, the 6-blade version is more practical.

9 blades – maximum density

Nine cutting blades produce the finest result when the robot is out every day and only trims the tips. On grass kept short, this also eliminates the last irregularities.

With larger mowing intervals and taller grass, the math is different: the same amount of work is spread across more edges, which therefore become dull faster.

Also without coverage over the middle – with daily operation, little collects under the device anyway.

Signs of dull cutting

Stems remain at the edge even though the robot was there
The cut surface looks torn instead of smooth
The lawn recovers after mowing more slowly than before
There are notches on a blade from the edge stone

Buy blades individually as replacements

If you mow close to the edge, you replace the cutting edges more often than the average—while the mowing disc stays the same. With the 60 replacement blades set including screws, you’re stocked for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Does the disc fit all LiDAX Ultra variants?

Yes, for 800, 1000, 1200 and 1600. All four use the same disc mount and differ only in mowing performance.

Can I use the LiDAX mowing disc on the MOVA 600?

No. The MOVA 600/1000 and VIAX have their own mowing units. Within the brand, the discs are not interchangeable.

Why do all blades on the LiDAX wear down evenly?

Because LiDAR navigation positions the paths slightly offset with each pass. There is no fixed track like with wire-guided robots, so each blade gets about the same amount of work.

Do I need to protect the LiDAR sensor when changing it?

When turning the device over, make sure the sensor at the top of the unit does not rest on the ground. A soft surface is enough—there’s nothing you need to remove or cover.

How can I tell in time that the disc is due?

With LiDAR robots, the cutting image changes more suddenly than gradually. Check the tips of the grass every two to three weeks instead of waiting for clear symptoms.

Are 9 blades worth it for the LiDAX?

The effect is particularly easy to see here because the paths already lie exactly next to each other. With short-maintained lawn, the result is very even.

Do I need to create the map again after replacing the disc?

No. Replacing the disc does not affect the map or navigation.

  6. Fasten each blade with a suitable screw.
  7. Tighten the screws securely without over-tightening them.
  8. Check each blade for a secure fit and free movement.

7. Check after installation

  • Are all screws fully inserted and securely fastened?
  • Is the cutting disc straight and firmly seated?
  • Can the blades move freely, if intended?
  • Have no tools or foreign objects been left in the area of the cutting disc?
  • Does the cutting disc run freely and without grinding?

8. Operation and Maintenance

  • Check the blades, screws, and cutting disc regularly for wear.
  • Replace damaged or heavily worn parts immediately.
  • Clean the cutting disc regularly of grass clippings and dirt.
  • Do not use the lawn mower robot if unusual noises, vibrations, or running problems occur.
  • Use only compatible replacement parts and suitable mounting materials.

Note on Blade Replacement

Always replace blades in good time. Dull or damaged blades can worsen the cutting pattern,
place a greater load on the lawn mower robot, and impair safety.
